SONY LIV to premiere 'KATHAKAAR' from Whistling Woods International

Sony Liv, the video-on-demand (VOD) platform of Sony Pictures Networks India, has newly added Whistling Woods International's (WWI) short film, entitled 'Kathakaar'. The film, conceptualised by the institution's students, has been added to Sony Liv's content collection.

Playing the lead role in the short film, Piyush Mishra, the actor and lyricist, said: "With 'Kathakaar', I went purely with my gut feeling. I reject a lot of scripts, but there was an X-factor about this one. I also had a question in mind as to how so much could be projected in such a short time span of 10 minutes. The character I play grabbed my interest. Having said that, I had no clue that the film would be so well made, and would go on to do so well".

The film is all about the story of Prakash, an old theatre projectionist who has been fired from his job. He comes back to his village whereby his struggles to get through the hardships in life began. One day he narrated a story to a crying child and this is where he gains in the inspiration to become the favourite story teller in the village and he rediscovered his passion.

Uday Sodhi, the EVP and head digital business at Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), commented: "We are delighted to showcase 'Kathakaar' exclusively on our platform. The narrative is powerfully evocative and we hope our viewers will enjoy watching it. Through our association with the film division of Whistling Woods International, we aim to present more exclusive and riveting entertainment to our viewers in the near future".
